Director of Educational Programs & Development
Jeremy McPherson brings more than 20 years of combined experience working with youth, including over 15 years as a Special Education teacher and previous service as a Los Angeles County Probation Officer working with at-risk youth. He currently works as a Special Education teacher with the Palmdale School District at Yellen Learning Center, giving him direct experience serving students and families within the Antelope Valley. Jeremy holds a Master’s degree in Special Education and is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Technology at Walden University, further expanding his expertise in innovative approaches to teaching, learning, and educational development.
As Director of Educational Programs & Development, Jeremy brings a unique understanding of how young people with different learning abilities, backgrounds, and life experiences engage with education. His experience in both education and juvenile services provides an important perspective as AVWCC develops programs designed to make conservation, wildlife, environmental science, and agriculture accessible and engaging for a diverse population of students.
Jeremy helps guide the development of AVWCC’s educational programming, including hands-on learning experiences, student activities, field-based education, and opportunities for collaboration with schools and educational partners. His background in Special Education and Educational Technology is particularly valuable as AVWCC explores accessible learning experiences, differentiated instruction, interactive educational resources, and new ways of incorporating technology into conservation education.
Through his work on the Board, Jeremy helps ensure that education remains a central part of AVWCC’s mission, creating opportunities for young people to explore wildlife and conservation while developing curiosity, confidence, practical knowledge, and a stronger connection to the natural world.
